PUBLICATIONS :: Write It Right Quarterly

AJA's Write It Right Quarterly (WIRQ) is designed and developed with the belief that well-written reports are not only a positive reflection on the author and the agency, but necessary to a successful jail operation. In today's litigious society, most sheriffs and jail administrators have come to realize the importance of producing and maintaining detailed documentation of events which involve the jail. Many administrators also understand that an incident report, depending on how well or poorly it is written, can make or break a lawsuit.

The information and exercises contained in the WIRQ are related to corrections work. The WIRQs address the specific relationship between report writing and the effective correctional practitioner.

The WIRQs will assist jail personnel at all levels to become more effective communicators. Each WIRQ concentrates on a specific topic(s) and includes exercises designed to reinforce the subject matter.

The WIRQs are four-page, bi-fold manuscripts that fit into a loose-leaf binder enabling you to create your own in-service training manual. Each WIRQ will build upon the skills learned from previous WIRQs.

You have the option of ordering test questions that will allow you to measure staff learning. The WIRQs are an excellent and affordable way to provide important, in-service training.

The topics covered will address skills needed to establish a foundation of effective written communication. Subject matter includes basic writing techniques, sentence structure, and commonly misspelled and misused words.
